Are you feeling more willing to see the truth? Are you ready to make the change?
Now that you are becoming more aware, it is time to create new habits, you’ll want to manage your mind with good mental habits. Thank goodness our mind has plasticity and you can manage the way you think.
What are some of the things you can do? When you go to bed at night think about what makes you happy instead of focusing on the things that make you feel stressed. When you feel fearful or negative, notice what you’re feeling. Don’t dwell on it, but acknowledge your feelings and make a mental note of where these feelings may have their origin. In the moment you feel them, see if you can train your thoughts to drift to a memory where you felt loved or happy. Focus on that instead.
By deciding to shift your focus, you’re empowered. Think about this. If I gave you $100 to go to the store to buy whatever you want, and you came out with $100 worth of stuff you didn't want, you might think you were a bit crazy, right? Apply this same analogy to the way you spend thought energy--the energy that you use to create what you want or what you don’t want. Why would you go to bed at night spending your energy on thoughts you don’t want? Instead, spend your energy on thoughts that drive the emotions you do want. By disciplining your mind to recall happy memories or dreams of what you want to create, or thoughts of gratitude when you drift off to sleep at night, you’ll be shopping at your own energy store spending valuable mind power on what you want instead of what you don’t want.
Setting an intention to change always allows you to make changes. Write down your goals and remind yourself to focus on your intention. Tell someone your goal and have them hold you accountable. This is the next simple action step you can take to help yourself manage your mind and mood.
The last step is to love yourself, rather than beat yourself up for faults, mistakes, or judgments. It is by loving ourselves that we are more able to create powerful, personal change, manage our mind and mood, and move forward with success. To further love and accept YOU, apply these same principles of managing thoughts to help you make a difference in the way you feel about you. We’re not talking about vanity here, we’re talking about developing self-worth and finding value in who you are.
